Here is a collection of artistic portraits by Santa Barbara photographers Carolyn and Edwin Gledhill, who operated the Gledhill Portraits photographic studio across from the famous Potter Hotel in 1907. From that prime location, they skillfully recorded many notable, and not so notable, personalities on film. This collection provides photographic historians and enthusiasts alike with an exceptional example of "turn-of-the-century" portrait photography. Also included in this book are reproductions of the first commercial color photographic process, the Autochrome, introduced by the Gledhills in 1915.
